Why You Should Go to Therapy
Therapy. Talk Therapy. Counselling. Psychotherapy. Treatment.
There are so many different labels for when you see a psychologist. But at the core, whatever label you choose, therapy can be very helpful during the hard seasons of life. Whether you are struggling with a specific challenge in life or are experiencing mental health issues related to stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma.
Talking to a therapist can help you feel better. When research has compared therapy to medication, both treatments have been shown to help people feel better. But, therapy helps people feel better for longer periods of time, as people in therapy learn skills and strategies to feel their best.
Counselling can be very rewarding and help you in different ares of your life.
Time for You
Hard seasons can mean your days are filled with responsibilities and obligations, with little to no time for yourself.
Therapy provides sacred time and space to take care of you! A space for you to be heard. To be validated. And to be seen.
It is time set aside specifically for you to purposefully pause to slow down, reflect, and process. It is a space to be intentional about your feelings, mindset, and mental health.
Counselling helps you to develop a clear focus on what you want in your life and helps you put the strategies into place to make it happen.
See Your Resiliency
Therapy may seem scary and uncomfortable, but so is staying the same.
There is no doubt that life has challenges and these hard seasons seem impossible. Sometimes fear, insecurities, and doubts get in the way of moving forward.
I'm a firm believer that what you need to heal is already inside of you and that you weren't designed to stay stuck in the hard seasons.

We all have emotions.
Sometimes emotions can get intense and can feel scary.
Intense emotions can dedicate and drive your day. You start to avoid the things that trigger anxiety, stress, or trauma. Or, maybe depression keeps you from enjoying the small moments in your life.
When you share your emotions in therapy, it can help the emotions feel less scary. Counselling also helps you to get to know and understand your emotions, how it may lead to unwanted patterns in your life, and learn how to take control of your emotions.
Be Kinder to Yourself
Therapy is the best place to strengthen the relationship you have with yourself.
You may invest time in improving your relationship with your partner, children, and/or co-workers. But what about the relationship you have with you?
Counselling provides the space to get to know yourself and gain insights into your strengths, your abilities, and your resiliencies.
Therapy can provide more awareness in how you speak to yourself, help you be more gentle with yourself, and allow yourself more grace in life's challenges.
Hard seasons can be teachers if you make the commitment to grow.
It may seem uncomfortable, intimating, and a bit odd to think of growth when things are hard, but this is often when personal growth occurs if you are open to it.
Therapy is a process. A process of reflecting. A process of learning. And, a process of growing. There is hard won growth in therapy as you bare witness to your personal growth, perservance, and resiliency.
Your inner growth is worth acknowledging and definitely celebrating during the therapy process.
